Born Tenko Shimura, he is the grandson of All Might's mentor Nana Shimura who became All for One's apprentice after he accidently murdered his family when his destructive Quirk Decay manifested. His Quirk allows him to decay anything he puts all 5 fingers on. The trauma played in Tomura becoming disillusioned with society with a resolve to destroy, initially wearing the preserved hands of his family all over his body.
