The STEN is a family of submachine gun developed in the United Kingdom during the Second World War, notable for simple design and very low production cost.

The MKII was the most common variant of the STEN with over two million produced, and was much rougher than the MK I. Features like the flash hider and folding handle (grip) were eliminated.

The open bolt design, simplification and simple safety devices meant the weapon was only effective around 100 meters, and suffered from numerous reliability and misfiring issues.
