The PPS-43 is a submachine gun developed by Alexei Sudayev, created as a response to a Red Army requirement for compact lightweight weapons with similar performance to the PPSh-41.
The design emphasized simplifying production, and the weapon was first produced on a small scale during the Siege of Leningrad.
The PPS-43 was used in conjunction with the PPSh-41 by Soviet forces during the Second World War, and remained in service until the mid 1950s.
